The World’s First and Only TV with Embedded Virtual Care & Social Engagement Services Enables Users to Be Present When Being There In Person is Not an Option

SAN DIEGO – September 30, 2014 – Independa, the leader in integrated virtual care technology, plays a critical role in enabling its users to take part in meaningful, can’t-miss life experiences through its TV-based resident-facing portal. Recently, a WellBridge of Brighton resident learned firsthand the possibilities of Independa’s easy-to-use technology.

Following surgery, Lillian S. was admitted to WellBridge of Brighton, a post-acute rehabilitation and nursing care center. WellBridge of Brighton recently outfitted each recovery room with Independa enabled TVs to help people stay connected and engaged with family members while recovering at their facility.

While rehabilitation prevented Lillian from attending her grandson’s upcoming wedding in person, her disappointment changed to excitement after learning she could virtually attend the wedding via Skype in the comfort of her own room. Central to Independa’s solution is easy access to social engagement capabilities, including access to Skype and Facebook. They are as easy to use as changing channels on a television because it’s controlled through the TV’s standard remote control. No other equipment is required.

“Isolation from family members is the number one issue facing older adults living alone or recovering from injury, and our innovative technology addresses that issue head on,” said Kian Saneii, founder, CEO and chairman of Independa. “We look forward to joining other industry leaders at the 24th NIC National Conference in Chicago as we pursue a common goal—advancing the quality and availability of senior housing and care options.”

Additionally, Independa’s television product helps mitigate the fear that often accompanies the process of transferring people from the hospital to acute care, especially when family members are absent.

“Our guests tell us that they heal faster because of Independa,” said Mike Perry, WellBridge COO. “People who may not be able to operate Skype on a laptop or an iPad can operate it on their Independa-enabled television. This ability to stay connected and participate in important life events during recovery is vital and we know that it’s one of the reasons hospitals recommend WellBridge.”

Independa will join other industry leaders at the 24th NIC National Conference in Chicago Oct. 1-3. The NIC National Conference is a place where leaders from the financial and investing side of senior housing and healthcare educate others in the industry on how to advance the quality and availability of senior housing and care options.
