In its spring 2012 publication Senior Care Products released a list of the "Top 10 Assistive Technology Devices for Seniors," which ranked Independa among the premiere innovations that support independent assisted living.
Senior Care Products enlisted the services of eldercare author, advocate and technology analyst Laurie Orlov to recommend 10 of the top technological solutions for advanced-aged citizens in the market today. Independa appeared on the list among companies that produced emergency alert, medication management and communications software. A year later, Independa remains the only company that provides both social media solutions for care recipients and telemonitoring access for caregivers.
The article did not rank the 10 entries, and instead featured an alphabetical list of the elderly living expert's recommendations. However, Orlov, who is also the founder of Aging in Place Technology Watch, did provide some insight on what it means to "age in place" and how new technologies are playing a role in this process. According to Orlov, independent assisted living "can be extended through the incorporation of universal principles, telecare and other assistive technologies."
Senior Care Products highlighted Independa's ability to seamlessly blend efficient mobile healthcare technology with social media software. In particular, the story noted our fully integrated cloud-based solutions – the Caregiver Web App and Independa Angela.
