New report explores growing role of teleservices

As the older adult population around the world continues to expand, government officials, care managers and other professionals that cater to this community are striving to find new ways to weather the increasing demands placed upon them. Many have looked to the growing adoption of teleservices, including telecare, as one of the most viable options available to accommodate this community while conserving resources and easing the burden on individual employees who serve the older adult population.

Recently, the consulting firm CSC issued a report on the current state of these services, and the potential benefits of their expansion.

"In an industry facing fiscal constraints, capacity concerns due to an aging population, and other pressures, teleservices [have] the potential to reshape the way care is delivered [and] are critical to solving the challenge of coordinated care by aligning information and incentives in a way that improves […] outcomes, helps organizations make more efficient use of their trained personnel and reduces costs," the document states.

As the report notes, telecare solutions like Independa capitalize on remote monitoring and other beneficial tools to facilitate independent living among older adults and ultimately improve quality of life. These innovations can provide peace of mind for care recipients and their loved ones by ensuring that potentially concerning changes in behavior are identified. Meanwhile, such technology empowers care managers to allocate their personnel and resources more effectively and ultimately improve their profit margins.
