A recent study, The U.S. Total Video Report, performed by comScore, an industry leader in analytics of the digital realm, has found that television remains the most-used screen by Americans, especially among older adults.

Over 1,100 respondents participated in the survey across a range of age groups. According to the study, 84 percent of Americans aged between 35 and 54 preferred watching a television over a computer or smartphone. That percentage was even higher for adults aged 55 or older, with 90 percent reporting their preference for the television medium.

More than half of the survey participants explained that they preferred the television for the format's flexibility (56 percent) and convenience (52 percent).

These results reflect Independa's commitment to supply older adults with caregiving technology that supports their decision to pursue aging in place. In order to be effective and well-received, caregiving solutions need to be both affordable and non-stigmatizing, as well as provide the features necessary to make both caregivers and care recipients feel more confident about their ability to assist in the activities of daily living

Independa's solution uses a non-stigmatizing device— the television— that this study evidences is by far the preferred format for older adults. Care recipients enjoy intuitively designed cloud-based software that requires no prior technical knowledge or involved training to operate. Care recipients have one-touch access to social integration and important appointment and medicine reminders through the world's first and only TV with embedded remote care services.

Independa's solution also allows caregivers the opportunity to include wireless health devices and home sensors, creating unlimited caregiver solutions as needs change. Contact us today to schedule a demo.
